Memories
Jim Leonard

I listened to Neil durring my time in south Florida from 1985 to 1994.   When at my job at Realtron Publishing, then in Pompano Bch.  I would have Neil on while I worked and became a fan right away.  I first met Neil at The Diplomat mall in Hallendale, Durring the Sweet "N" Low era.  Also met him at many remotes and appearances at restraunts or stores.  I grew up in Lansing, Michigan not far from Michigan State University where Neil went, and loved it when he would remanice about his time there and other places he had worked.  I thought Neil to be a very warm nice guy when meeting him in person,  not like he was on the air.  I enjoyed alot of the bits he would play, would call him but was always too nervous to talk.  Those are great memories I have and more of Neil.  I will always miss him.  R.I.P.  Neil.  Jim Leonard

I lived glued to the radio for years never missing a show. I would even wait for Neil to break before going to pee cuz I never wanted to miss a word he said.  He leaves behind a huge void in talent that I dare say will never be filled.  The IOD days were the best, Rick and Suds in the morning followed by Neil, then Phil Hendrie and Madog for the drive home.  Wow those were the days!  NEIL...GOD!  I miss you Uncle Neil!

Neil's absence from the air has left a void in terms of talent in South Florida talk radio.  What Neil did was educate, inform, humor, provoke and inspire those who witnessed him practice his craft.  With Neil's passing, it is sad that his unique brand is gone...but never forgotten.

Who will ever forget the "drops" like the song, Prison Bitch, and his attacks on then-Dolphins owner Wayne "High-pinga?" How about the attacks on French Canadian tourists and the Hallandale elderly ripping off the Swee-n-Low from the Early Bird specials? Neil told it like it was and we laughed and "kvetched" wtih him over life in South Florida.  Too bad he didn't have a national audience but he was definitely local. You're missed, Neil., and will never be replaced. RIP, dude.

Neil created a format and style of talk that has never been duplicated and has mostly passed with him.

I learned from him each day.
